Does modern software make it easier to enter and manipulate appointments?

Our programming team recently had occasion to visit a local salon. This salon had 14 operators and 14 appointment books on the front counter in a pile. When the phone range and a appointment was needed the receptionists went into scramble mode. She would frantically search for the correct book and when she found it, attempted to book the appointment. The person on the phone wanted a change of time and day and the book was a scribbled mess. After keeping the person on the phone for 10 minutes, she finally found her appointment, scribbled it out and made another. A few minutes later, Alice J, the operator came to the front counter and Betty informed her that another appointment had been booked, upon reviewing the client name, Alice J said this was not her client, probably she was Alice R. client. Betty promptly erased the client with a large well used eraser and entered her in the Alice R. book. We worked with this salon for several hours, and it did not get much better, at times there were 3 clients on hold waiting for appointments while Betty hustled around. Perhaps this is an extreme case but many client relations schools educate their students on the benefits of proper phone manors.

ClientMagic software has the ability to easily manage appointments. Existing appointments can be easily located on the client card, reviewed and then Cut and pasted to another day and time with no errors. If a follow up appointment is needed the appointment can also be copied. Re-occurring or standing appointments can also be created for clients desiring to have regular set days for service. It is argued that computer appointment take longer, but when the whole picture is looked at the time savings can be enormous, not to mention the great increase in customer satisfaction derived from electronic appointments.
